Representatives of the Responsible Restaurant Movement (Sorumlu Restoran Hareketi), which was implemented to create a sustainable world and social awareness in the gastronomy sector, met with Sabancı University Social Awareness Projects students. Elif Üngör, Deputy General Manager of Akkomarka Restaurant Group and Emir Sami İşmen, Deputy General Manager of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Beltur, told the students of the Consumer Awareness Project and Animal Rights Project within the scope of the Social Awareness Projects course of the University about the contribution of their activities to the society and the world.
IBB Beltur’s restaurants, cafes and buffets and Akkomarka Restaurant Group’s leading restaurants such as Köşebaşı, Ken Sushi, Snob Street Food, Ali Ocakbaşı, Lokanta Safderun, Yamo Sushi, Ristorante Umberto, Perihan, Mr. Meat Steakhouse, Yemek Hazır! Donkey and All Day Catering, the Responsible Restaurant Movement continues to work with the vision of preventing food waste, promoting proper consumption habits and leaving a better world for nature and our animal friends. At the event held at Sabancı University, concrete benefits and social transformations created by the projects were presented with examples.
Elif Üngör, Deputy General Manager of Akkomarka Restaurant Group, said in her speech: ‘The active role of young generations in social awareness projects is the key to a sustainable future. As the restaurant sector in Türkiye, we will continue to make all the contribution we can to spread this awareness.’
IBB Beltur Assistant General Manager Emir Sami İşmen stated that as IBB Beltur, they are proud to support social responsibility projects. “The participation of young people in critical issues such as consumption awareness and animal rights increases our hopes for the future,” İşmen said.
This meeting showed that the Responsible Restaurant Movement has taken important steps not only in the restaurant sector but also in education and raising social awareness.
