In order to register the chestnut honey produced in Sinop, an application has been for a geographical indication. A press conference was held in the TSO building by the Sinop Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO), Sinop University and the Sinop Beekeepers Association regarding the application.
“This activity is important so as to say Sinop Chestnut honey belongs to us”
Speaking at the meeting, President of Sinop Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO), Salim Akbaş reminded that chestnut honey is intensively produced in Erfelek, Ayancık and Türkeli districts. Emphasizing that chestnut honey produced in the Sinop region is very valuable, Akbaş said, “Sinop University and Beekeepers Association jointly carry out works, besides the project prepared under the name of ‘Sinop Chestnut Honey’ has been completed.”
Chestnut honey to become a ‘Sinop gift’ from now on!
Salim Akbaş also stated that they made a special packaging for Sinop chestnut honey as Sinop Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
