Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) Fisheries and Animal Products Sector Board, announced that Turkish salmon exports, which amounted to 29 million dollars in 2019, surged approximately 17-fold to 498 million dollars last year.

The target for 2025 is 600 million dollars…
Kızıltan stated that 32,000 tonnes of Turkish salmon were produced in farms established along the coastline in Black Sea provinces of Sinop, Samsun, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize and Artvin between January and July 2025 and that exports amounted to 268 million dollars, representing a 23 per cent increase. stated that they expect foreign exchange earnings from this product to reach 600 million dollars by the end of the year.
Pointing out that Turkish salmon, which competes with Norwegian salmon, has very broad market opportunities, Kızıltan said, “Turkish salmon is a highly competitive product in terms of taste, nutritional value and sustainable production conditions. With investments to be made in the Black Sea region, we aim to achieve Turkish salmon exports exceeding 1 billion dollars by 2035 at the latest. Within the scope of this goal, we are working intensively to introduce Turkish salmon to industry representatives and consumers in target markets. In addition to leading industry fairs, we plan to rapidly spread this delicacy through country-focused efforts.”
