Türkiye Maintains Its Leadership in Global Hazelnut Production…
Sebahattin Arslantürk, Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated that FAO data is very clear; between 2012 and 2021, global hazelnut production areas surged by 437,000 hectares, with 72.3 percent of this increase or 316,000 hectares, coming from Türkiye.

“Contrary to the long-held view that ‘if hazelnut prices rise, other countries will ramp up production and Türkiye will lose its dominance,’ the country has maintained its leadership in production area. As global production grew, we again secured the largest share. The Black Sea region further strengthened its leadership during this process,” he said.
Sharing his forecasts for the future, Arslantürk noted, “It is expected that global hazelnut production areas will reach 1,170,000 hectares by 2035, with 70 percent of this production or 820,000 hectares, again coming from Türkiye and especially the Black Sea region.”
