MUSTAFA TERCİ: WE HAVE BROUGHT 7.3 B DOLLARS IN TURKISH ECONOMY

Mustafa Terci, Chairperson of the Aegean Cereals Pulses and Oil Seeds and Products Exporters Association, said that they have a wide range of products from cereals, milling, confectionery, chocolate products along with vegetable oils to spices.

Terci said, “Our sector brought 7.3 billion dollars in Turkish economy last year.”

Terci also noted that 1 billion 276 million dollars of this export was made by the confectionery industry.

Giving the information that the Turkish confectionery industry exports to 185 countries around the world, Terci explained, “The fact that the vaccine of the Covid-19 virus was found worldwide and started to be applied in 2021 makes our export sectors hopeful. An 8 percent increase is predicted in the world commodity trade. We believe that our confectionery industry will reach 1.5 billion dollars of exports in 2021, unless exchange rates do not adversely affect our trade.”

“Confectionery products containing chocolate and cocoa were the most exported products with 540 million dollars in the exports of the Turkish confectionery industry. In addition, white chocolate products that do not contain cocoa brought 476 million dollars of foreign currency to our country,” Terci added.

Iraq, USA and Iran are top three countries…

“The countries to which the confectionery industry exports the most; Iraq became the first with 153 million dollars and the USA was the second with 143 million dollars. Meanwhile, Iran demanded 52 million dollars in Turkish confectionery products. These countries were followed by Israel with 49 million dollars in confectionery exports and the UK with 48 million dollars,” Terci concluded…
