Mehmet Cirav: Hazelnut exports continue to decline!

In the January-November period of 2025, 221 thousand tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Türkiye, generating foreign exchange earnings of 2 billion 9 million 244 thousand dollars. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this export volume decreased by 24 per cent in quantity and 14 per cent in value.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated in his assessment of the issue that exports were made to 118 different countries from the country in the first 11 months of the year and that the top 5 countries to which exports were made were Germany, Italy, France, Poland and the Netherlands, respectively.

Cirav stated that in the first three months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, 46,599 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported, generating 547,505,000 dollars in foreign exchange revenue. He noted that compared to the same period last year, exports decreased by 53 per cent in volume and 32 per cent in value.

Informing that hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, he said, “In the first 11 months of 2025 amounted to 57,565 tonnes, generating 523,314,000 dollars in foreign exchange revenue, representing a 31 per cent decrease in volume and a 28 per cent decrease in value compared to the same period last year. In this context, Trabzon ranked second in hazelnut exports, accounting for 28 per cent of the hazelnut exports from our country in the January-November period of 2025.”

“In the first three months of the hazelnut export season, 5,952 tonnes worth 69,215,000 dollars were exported from Trabzon province, representing a 76 per cent decrease in volume and a 68 per cent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season,” he added…
