Highlighting that they are working to establish a system from the farmer to the shelf as a sector in order to avoid problems due to aflatoxin and ochratoxin in dried figs, Işık said, “For many years, we have distributed cradles and marrow bags to producers in order not to enhance the frequency of control in the European Union, our largest export market. In the 2023/24 season, we purchased and distributed UV lamps within the budget in order for our exporter companies that received the product from the producers to carry out their controls. We also continued our distribution of marrow bags to our producers. In our Dried Fig Sector Board, all parties of the sector are working to ramp up the total quality.”

Emphasizing that the 2024/25 season has started in dried figs, Işık added, “We expect a yield similar to the 2023/24 season and that we target 300 million dollars from dried fig exports.”
