Işınsu Kestelli, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Izmir Commodity Exchange (ITB) and Izmir Agriculture Technology Centre (ITTM) Girişim AŞ (Entrepreneurship inc.), stated that digital transformation is of great importance for agriculture in Türkiye to achieve a sustainable and competitive structure.

Kestelli underlined that Turkish agriculture faces many structural problems such as lack of planning, technology deficit, ageing labour force, difficulties in access to finance and pressure on natural resources, and made the following assessment: “Türkiye is one of the world’s top 10 agricultural producers. However, in order to fully utilise this potential, it needs to rapidly adopt digitalisation and technological developments in agriculture. ITTM will be one of the most important building blocks of this transformation.”
ITTM AIMS TO BE THE ‘SILICON VALLEY’ OF AGRICULTURE…
Kestelli pointed out that Izmir Agriculture Technology Centre will create an agricultural entrepreneurship ecosystem and play a decisive role in the sector, and announced that the official opening of the centre will be held in spring.

Emphasising that ITTM will be a centre that carries the agriculture sector into the future, Kestelli said, “We position ITTM as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of agriculture. This project will be an important lever in the change and transformation process of Turkish agriculture.”
