Ramazan Özcan, Chairperson of Malatya Commodity Exchange, announced that they targeted 100 thousand tonnes of exports during the dried apricot export period starting on 1 August 2024. Stating that 50 thousand tonnes of dried apricot exports were made in the first 6 months of the season, Özcan said that they have a 6-month period ahead of them to reach their targets.

Emphasising that apricot exports are of vital importance for Malatya province, which was severely damaged by the Kahramanmaraş-centred earthquakes on 6 February 2023, Özcan noted that there is no problem in the sector, but there is a market contraction due to the surge in production in Central Asia.
