The Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector, which exported more than 200 delicious fresh fruit and vegetables grown in Anatolia to more than 100 countries and earned Türkiye 2 billion 50 million dollars in the 8-month period of 2023, welcomes importers and chain markets from all over the world at Antalya Interfresh Eurasia Fruit, Vegetable, Storage, Packaging, Logistics, Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Fair held between 28-30 September.
Speaking at the opening of the fair, Hayrettin Uçak, Deputy Coordinator Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) and Head of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB), shared the information that Türkiye ranks fourth in the world after China and India with an annual production of 58 million tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables.
“We want to contribute to the OVP target with exports of 4 billion dollars”
Giving information about the country’s fresh fruit and vegetable export performance, Uçak said, “We exported 1.7 billion dollars in the 2022 January-August period. In the 2023 January-August period, our exports reached 2 billion 50 million dollars with a hike of 16 percent. By increasing our residue-free and high quality production, promoting it with sectoral trade delegations we organise at fairs and within the scope of our URGE (Product development) projects, the fresh fruit and vegetable sector will reach the export target of 302.2 billion dollars in our Medium Term Programme in 2026 by improving our quality and quality production without residue, promoting it with sectoral trade delegations we organise at fairs and within the scope of our URGE projects.”
Pointing out that the number of visitors and the quality of Antalya Interfresh Vegetable Fruit Packaging Storage Logistics Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Fair has soared every year, Uçak concluded his words by saying, “I would like to say that I am very happy and proud that our country hosts such a distinguished fair.”
Özer: We will reach an export volume of 150 million dollars
Murat Özer, General Manager of ANTEXPO A.Ş., which organised the exhibition, added that while 49 companies participated in the Interfresh Eurasia Fair in 2022, 136 companies participated this year and 415 foreign visitors, including the representatives of Europe’s 3 largest chain markets, came to see Turkish fruit and vegetable products and stated that they foresee that the fair will reach an export volume of 150 million dollars…
