The export journey of satsuma tangerines begins on 17 October…
The export target for tangerines is 500 million dollars and for satsuma tangerines, 125 million dollars!
The excitement of harvesting and exporting satsuma mandarins, which stand out for their thin skin, intense aroma and high juice content, has begun.
The harvest date for satsuma tangerines has been set for Tuesday, 14 October 2025 and the export date for Friday, 17 October 2025.
“We are the world’s third largest producer of tangerines!”
Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye ranks among the top three producers in the world with an annual mandarin production of 1.9 million tonnes, emphasising that satsuma mandarins are the most preferred type of tangerine by consumers.
“Türkiye’s tangerine harvest is sufficient for both the domestic market and exports. We achieved 430 million dollars in tangerine exports in 2024. Satsuma tangerines accounted for 104 million dollars of this export. In the January–September period of 2025, our tangerine exports increased by 12 percent, rising from 170 million dollars to 190 million dollars. We are targeting 500 million dollars in foreign exchange earnings from total tangerine exports by the end of the year. We aim to reach 125 million dollars in satsuma tangerine exports.”
Top three countries in exports: Russia, Ukraine and Serbia
The Russian Federation maintained its leadership in satsuma tangerine exports with 68 million dollars, followed by Ukraine with 21 million dollars and Serbia with 3.7 million dollars. Türkiye achieved strong market diversity in 2024 by exporting satsuma tangerines to 41 different countries…
