The harvest of Taşköprü (a district of Kastamonu province) garlic, known as “white gold” in Kastamonu, has begun. Garlic, which is the main income source of approximately 4 thousand families, is estimated to produce around 25 thousand tonnes this year. According to the quality and size of the garlic, kilogram prices vary between 18 and 30 liras.
This season, producers are excited for Taşköprü garlic, which is symbolized by Kastamonu. Stating that there is no problem in garlic this season, producers expect 25 thousand tonnes of harvest.

Garlic producer Şevket Aytaç said, “We kicked off the 2022 garlic harvest this year. As you can see, we started to harvest our garlic with our workers. The flavour is the same and the quality is the same. Taşköprü garlic is a garlic that has received the world-famous geographical sign. Thank God there is no problem with our garlic. Our garlic is waiting for its buyer. The price of the kilo was between 18-30 liras in the ‘Alatarla garlic market’ the other day. The prices depend on the quality of the garlic and it can vary in size.”
