AYHAN BARUT: GRAIN CORRIDOR SUMMIT IN ISTANBUL HAS STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE

Parliamentary Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Commission Member, Ayhan Barut, Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy, stated that the grain corridor summit in Istanbul is important and said, “The whole world saw once again in the pandemic that there is no life without agriculture. Agriculture is a strategic sector. Therefore, our country has its own agricultural sector. Self-sufficiency is imperative.”

Explaining that after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which is shown as a ‘granary’, there is concern about the food crisis all over the world, CHP Adana Deputy Ayhan Barut noted that the grain corridor summit held in Istanbul with the participation of Russia, Ukraine, Turkiye and the United Nations representatives is important.

‘AGRICULTURE IS A STRATEGIC SECTOR’
Reminding that access to safe food is significant as seen during the pandemic period and that even those with money have difficulty in accessing food due to restrictions, Barut added, “Access to safe food for a healthy life is one of the top priorities. The whole world saw once again that there is no life without agriculture. Agriculture, It is a strategic sector. Therefore, it is imperative to ensure our country’s self-sufficiency in agriculture.”
