Highlighting that since their Association represents three different sectors, when the statistics are examined, the number of export countries in the paper and paper products sector is 147 and the first three countries are Iran, Egypt and the USA, Gürle explained, “The number of countries to which non-wood forest products are exported is 151 and the first 3 countries in this sector are Iraq, Russia and the USA. When we look at the furniture sector, the number of countries exported in this sector is 143 and the first 3 countries exported are Iraq, Germany and Romania.”

“We know that the exports we carried out in the first 10 months of 2024 are not enough for our exporters, for this reason, we aim to ramp up our exports of 906 million dollars in 2023 and reach 1 billion dollars. Our exporters are planning to attain this target with TURQUALITY, Development of International Competitiveness Projects, Sectoral Trade Delegations and Buyer Delegation organisations in 2024 and we even aim to enter 2025 by exceeding the export threshold of 1 billion dollars,” Gürle noted.

Pointing out that with both the recession in global markets and the slowdown in Turkish economy, Gürle said, “It is important for us to maintain our position in 2025. In order to achieve this and to go one step further and enhance our market share, as Exporters’ Associations, we will organise sectoral trade delegations to countries where our companies have problems reaching alone, as well as increasing our activities in intensive importing countries such as the United States of America.”

“Likewise, we will organise a search conference in order to define the problems and identify the needs in the paper sector, our aim is to reinforce the unity of the sector and increase cooperation, thus contributing to exports, production and sustainability.

When it comes to the non-wood forest products sector, we can say that our members meet the basic need in the world, the Aegean region has very fertile soils in this regard, in this context, we cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in order to expand the production areas and ensure product diversity,” Gürle concluded…
