The Giresun Commodity Exchange (GTB) announced that, as part of the ‘Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness’ project backed by the Ministry of Trade, promotional activities for hazelnuts will be carried out in Japan, Chile and China.

Hamza Bölük, Chair of the Giresun Commodity Exchange, told an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent that promotional and export-oriented activities had been carried out in Germany and the United Arab Emirates in previous years as part of the project.
Emphasising that they are making intensive efforts to establish new sales points for Türkiye, Bölük said, “Our new target is Japan. We will be conducting promotional and meeting activities in this country. Next year, we are planning to visit Chile and China. Together with our members participating in the project, we will promote hazelnuts and make contacts for export. Our aim is to expand the global market for hazelnut trade and develop new trade areas.”
Pointing out that they have received positive feedback on their initiatives and promotional activities, Bölük added:

“We carried out this type of work in Germany. We also carried out another initiative in Dubai. Our exporting companies developed their trade in these locations. Some of our companies found new export markets. Therefore, we witnessed that these initiatives contributed to and benefited the development of the hazelnut trade. We hope that our future initiatives will further develop the hazelnut trade.”
Highlighting that the US, South America and especially Far East countries are important markets for Turkish hazelnuts, Bölük concluded, ‘Promoting hazelnuts is very important. There are people in the world who do not know or recognise hazelnuts. Our primary goal is to export to countries where people do not know hazelnuts.’
