Turkey expects to export 180 million dollars of table grapes from Manisa province this season.
50 thousand registered farmers in Manisa and its environs produce grapes in about 1 million decares of vineyard. Manisa region provides 60-70 percent of Turkey’s annual 4 million tons of grapes and produces between 2.5-3 million tons of grapes of which 90 percent of exported.
Half of the grapes produced in Manisa are used for drying, 40 percent as fresh and 10 percent as must and wine grape.
Export leads fast…
Hayrettin Uçak, Chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that they sent Manisa Sultani Seedless Grapes worth 150 million dollars to 59 countries last year.
Uçak said that the export, which they started on 8 August this season, has progressed rapidly in the past two weeks.
Uçak also pointed out that they achieved a 2 percent increase in the two-week period compared to the same period of the previous year and noted, “We think that we will surpass last year in our total exports at the end of the season, we aim to reach 170-180 million dollars. we will bring.”
Indicating that they mainly export to Russia and the European Union countries, Uçak added, “We are working on alternative markets with the Development of International Competitiveness Project we prepared for Far Eastern countries.”
