KARADENİZBİRLİK DETERMINES THE PRE-PURCHASE PRICE OF SUNFLOWER AS 3.20 LIRAS…

Ünal Erarslan, Director General of KARADENİZBİRLİK, said that the Board of Directors of their Association made maximum effort in favour of the producer considering the current conditions and determined the pre-purchase price of sunflower as 3.20 liras.

The Black Sea Oil Seeds Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Association (KARADENİZBİRLİK), headquartered in Samsun province, launched the ‘Sunflower purchase campaign’ for the 2020-2021 season.

Director General Ünal Erarslan said, “In the new season, as the Board of Directors, we have decided to apply a purchase price of 3.20 TL / Kg for sunflower. According to the developing market conditions, we can make a price difference payment to our farmers.”

Protection against speculative movements…

Ünal Erarslan, who made a press statement on the subject, announced that they started the 2020-2021 purchasing period in sunflower with an ‘advance price’ of 3 thousand 200 liras per tonne.

Stating that KARADENİZBİRLİK, as in the past years, has pushed all its possibilities to pay for the hard work of its farmers in this season, Erarslan noted, “We have determined the season as 3.20 liras with a 28 percent increase.”

The ‘hot and dry air’ blow to production…

Pointing out that they will make purchases in 12 cooperatives, Erarslan added, “We will continue our tradition of making cash payments to our farmers this season as well.”

Underlining that there will be a ‘low yield’ in sunflower production due to climatic conditions this year, Erarslan concluded, “We are experiencing a significant decrease in yield especially because of the hot and dry weather. We expect a yield decrease of around 30 percent compared to the previous season. Due to the conditions, there will be significant decreases in yield.”
