Cengiz Balık said, “We are aware that the most important factor in exports is production. The effort of consumers to access healthy food worldwide has risen to the top of the list of priorities. Food producers and exporters take steps regarding ‘Food Safety’ rapidly to produce safe food from field to fork and gain the trust of the consumer. We, as the Association, have implemented the project called ‘We Know the Pesticides We Use’ in order to reveal the residue map of the region for the products that are predominantly exported in our region, with the awareness that the way to sustain success in the export of food products is through the sustainability of consumer confidence.”

“With this project, we control the correct use of pesticides by taking samples from production areas. With the ‘We Know the Pesticides We Use’ project, we aim to carry out analyzes to determine pesticides for seedless table grapes, cherries, pomegranates, peaches, tangerines, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and vine leaves. We started our project by taking samples from greenhouses and gardens representing the strawberry production area spread over an area of 1,500 decares in our Region” Cengiz Balık added.

“The residual values are in line with the limits of our biggest export markets, the European Union, Russia and Turkey for the consumption of our own citizens. This success of our producer has also brought success in export as well. Strawberry exports, which were 17 million dollars in the January-May period of 2020, increased to 41 million dollars in the January-May 2021 period. As of this month, we will have finalized our analysis of grape leaves,” Cengiz Balık concluded…
