Agricultural Engineer Bünyamin Kozak, who works on bananas in Anamur district of Mersin province said that they aim to establish a ‘Banana Museum’ by collecting different and highly productive banana varieties that emerge in different gardens in Anamur.
While the progress of the sector in Anamur, known as the capital of bananas, continues, an initiative has been started to make Anamur an example in the new productions started in alternative regions.
Agricultural Engineer Bünyamin Kozak, retired from the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry of Anamur, stated that banana producers who started production in the region frequently come to Anamur and get information and practical examples from them.
“Anamur continues to be a pioneer in banana production which came to Turkey in the 1700s,” Kozak added.

“Production started in Anamur in the 1930s and that the technologies applied increased when it started to be taken into greenhouses in the 1970s. And Anamur has become the capital of the banana in the passing years. and Those who develop bananas from Antalya to Hatay region, trying to grow bananas, first came to see what condition the banana is in Anamur region. In this process we have included our academicians at the university in these studies,” Kozak concluded…
