BÜLENT TUNÇ: WE HAVE ENOUGH AMOUNT OF SACRIFICIALS FOR THE FEAST

Bülent Tunç, Chairperson of the Turkish Red Meat Producers’ Association (TÜKETBİR), said that they have no problem with the existence of sacrificial animals.

Tunç said, “A total of 4.5 million animals, 3 million of which are ovines (small cattle) and 1.5 million cattle, will be sold as sacrificial animals. This includes animal markets, purchases by associations and foundations and markets.”

Pointing out that an average of 4.5 million sacrificials are slaughtered annually, Tunç added, “We have breeders who produce only for this holiday. Animal markets in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Konya will be established as of next week. Our breeders have started preparations for dispatch.”

“Our breeders in our provinces such as Erzurum, Tokat, Kastamonu, Sivas, Çorum, Bayburt, Van, Ağrı and Muş will bring their sacrificial animals to the metropolitan cities. Prices increased by 20 percent on average compared to last year due to increasing costs,” Tunç concluded…
