Examples of Good Agricultural Practices and Good Social Practices Shared at the Sustainable Hazelnut Summit…
The Sustainable Hazelnut Summit, organized for the first time this year by the Sustainability Academy and Ferrero Hazelnut, brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society and academia.
At the summit, experts evaluated examples of good agricultural practices and good social practices for a sustainable future in hazelnut production in Türkiye.
The Sustainable Hazelnut Summit, organized by the Sustainability Academy and Ferrero Hazelnut on June 2nd, took place with the participation of sector stakeholders in the hazelnut value chain. At the summit, which was organized for the first time by the Sustainability Academy and Ferrero Hazelnut, representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society, and academia came together to evaluate examples of good agricultural practices and good social practices for a sustainable future in hazelnut production in Türkiye
Bamsı Akın, General Manager of Ferrero Hazelnut, who delivered the opening speech of the summit, stated that Ferrero Hazelnut, operating since 2015, focuses on creating significant economic and social impact in Türkiye through its value chain activities and investments with its mission of “creating value for everyone.”

“The Ferrero Group aims for excellence throughout the entire value chain, prioritizing the social and environmental quality of all raw materials used in its products. The sustainability of hazelnuts, which are at the heart of Ferrero’s products, is extremely important to us. Hazelnuts are a very valuable product for Türkiye and our country is the world’s largest hazelnut producer. Since 2012, we have been running the Ferrero Valuable Agriculture (FFV) programme, which aims to support the sustainability of the hazelnut value chain and focuses on people, planting and harvesting,” Akın said.
“In this programme, which we carry out by establishing collaborations with civil society organizations and local communities, we are progressing by working shoulder-to-shoulder with hazelnut producers in the field with our team spread throughout the Black Sea region,” Akın noted.
Pointing out that they organized the Sustainable Hazelnut Summit with the aim of bringing together all stakeholders of the hazelnut ecosystem to share best practices, strengthen cooperation and create a more sustainable value chain together, Akın added, “As Ferrero Hazelnut, we will continue to contribute to the sector by strengthening our collaborations.”
