Organic honey production is becoming widespread with the support of the state…
In Türkiye’s Southeastern province of Batman, 594 beehives with pollen traps with 70 percent grant were distributed to 66 beekeepers within the scope of efforts to ramp up organic honey production and popularise bee breeding.
In order to develop and popularise organic beekeeping in Batman region in recent years, beekeepers in Sason and Kozluk districts, where there are many plant species, have been distributed hives with state support. Bee breeding, which is developing day by day, has turned the villages on the slopes of 3 thousand altitude Mereto Mountain into a honey production centre.
Mehmet Bağatur, one of the beekeepers who stated that the hives distributed with state support will increase honey production because they are of better quality and have pollen traps, said, “I am bee breeding on the slopes of Mereto Mountain in Sason district. The hives given to us with state support will increase honey production because they have pollen traps. Thanks to the support given by our state, we will obtain more honey, God willing.”
Beekeepers have been supported for two years…
Veterinarian Gülşah Yıldız, one of the officials who checked the hives stating that beekeepers have been supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for 2 years in Batman and delivered them to the breeders, also said that 594 hives with pollen traps were distributed to 66 beekeepers.
“With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and with the contributions of Batman Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, we have been providing grant bee and pollen trap hives to our beekeepers for 2 years. Today, we distributed a total of 594 pollen trap hives from 9 hives to 3 beekeepers in Batman city centre, 33 beekeepers in Sason district and 30 beekeepers in Kozluk district. Our hives with pollen traps will be much more useful,” she said.
“Thanks to the pollen trap, it will be easier for them to obtain not only honey production but also other honey products. There are approximately 40 thousand beehives in Sason. Sason is a district where quality honey is produced due to endemic plant species, high altitude of the mountains and being a warm region,” she added…
