Aykut Göymen, Chair of Turkish Pasta Industrialists’ Association (TMSD), stated that they want to maintain their export figure of 1.5 million tonnes in 2024 in the new year.
Gaziantep…
Göymen told AA (Anatolian Agency) correspondent that they achieved their export target of 1.5 million tonnes last year and exported 1 billion dollars.

Stating that they are satisfied with exports to African countries and they want to increase exports to other European countries, Göymen said:
“I think we will maintain the figure of 1.5 million tonnes this year, because there are very serious investments in many countries in Africa. When investments are put into production in these countries, they impose taxes in order to protect their own countries and support production in their countries. Apart from this, the African region is one of Türkiye’s major markets. They have unions among themselves. There is no customs tax on the production and imports made in these countries, but a serious tax has started to be imposed on the products coming from Türkiye.”

“Pasta exports to Syria will gain serious momentum”
Göymen noted that they believe that the exports to Syria will increase this year with the new administration.
Pointing out that they are planning new activities in exports to Syria, Göymen added, “Recently, the regime has been overthrown and the incoming administration has imposed a tax of 300 dollars per tonne with a new application in the last few days. Of course, we will make various initiatives in this regard, but our job is a bit difficult in this tax environment. However, if this tax is examined more carefully, pasta exports to Syria will gain momentum. Because food is one of the products that Syria needs right now.”
