61.7 percent of Türkiye’s total pasta exports and 56.4 percent of sunflower oil exports were made from the Southeastern region.
Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, said that they made more than half of the country’s sunflower oil exports.
He also stated that crude oil prices rising up to 1 dollar per litre in global markets, together with customs costs, have reached levels that force sunflower oil producers.
Pointing out that sunflower seed global prices soraed by 20 percent in dollar terms last month due to the negative impact of hot weather on production and rising demand, said, “This increase in production costs has not yet been reflected in our sales prices either at home or abroad. However, the consumer has an excessive interest in sunflower oil. Sunflower exports of our region, which was 150 thousand tonnes in the first half of last year, reached 213 thousand tonnes in the same period this year.”
“Southeastern Anatolia realised more than half of Türkiye’s sunflower exports. We are currently observing the path of improvements in shelf prices and exchange rates. At the end of this challenging period, we believe that our sunflower oil exporters have an open road ahead,” he added…
