Exporters of fresh fruit, vegetable and products aim to export 1 billion dollars to the Netherlands and Belgium, which import 25 billion dollars of fresh fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products annually.
Taking firm steps towards its 1.2 billion dollar export target for 2021, the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) has taken the Netherlands and Belgium, which are reexport centres in the supply of fresh fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products, on its radar.
Under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade and along with the organization of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, a Trade Delegation organization for the fresh fruit, vegetable and products sectors was held in the Netherlands and Belgium between November 28 and December 2, 2021.
Stating that they participated in the “Trade Delegation” for the Netherlands and Belgium with 11 companies, Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chairperson Hayrettin Uçak said that in addition to many bilateral business meetings in the Netherlands and Belgium, importer companies were also visited.
Pointing out that the Netherlands imports 10 billion dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables and 7 billion dollars of fruit and vegetable products annually, Uçak continued his words as follows; “Belgium imports 3.5 billion dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables and 4.5 billion dollars of fruit and vegetable products. The Netherlands and Belgium are also reexport centres. They are the supplier of Europe. In 2020, we exported 385 million dollars from Turkey to these countries that import 25 billion dollars of fresh fruit, vegetable and fruit and vegetable products annually. We are striving to boost our exports to these two countries above 1 billion dollars in the next 5 years. Our promotional activities in the Dutch and Belgian markets will continue in the upcoming period.”
