AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE PREMIUM SUPPORTS SOARED BY 21 PERCENT IN 2022…

In 2022, the area insured in agriculture reached 34.9 million decares with an increase of 21 percent compared to the previous year and the number of policies soared by 22 percent to 3.1 million.

According to the information obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSİM) protects producers against climate change and natural disasters with rising frequency.

TARSİM as a non-profit organization, which was established with the cooperation of the state, private sector and non-governmental organizations, ensures that the farmers can continue their agricultural production safely by guaranteeing the risk of loss of yield and quality that may arise due to natural disasters, through the support of the state premium.

In TARSİM, the size of the insured area, the number of policies and the amount of premiums collected boost every year. In 2022, compared to the previous year, the insured area grew by 21 percent to 34.9 million decares, the number of policies jumped by 22 percent to 3.1 million and the premiums collected increased by 92 percent to 9 billion liras. In 2022, the amount of compensation paid to producers affected by natural disasters increased by 30 percent to 3.7 billion liras. The insurance cost was 296 billion liras, and the state premium support was 4.8 billion liras. Premium support was 2.47 billion liras in 2021.
