August 2026…
The strong increase in fruit and grain production will be particularly prominent in this year’s expected record of 140 million tonnes in plant production.

ANKARA…
According to information compiled by an Anatolian (AA) correspondent, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that this year’s harvest season will close with a production of 140 million tonnes, which will be an all-time record.
This record is expected to be influenced by increased production in certain areas…
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) “First Estimate of Plant Production,” total plant production, which is approximately 121 million tonnes in 2025, is projected to rise to 139.7 million tonnes this year. Thus, a spike of approximately 18.7 million tonnes in production is estimated.
Approximately 11.4 million tonnes of this spike is expected to come from fruits and 7.3 million tonnes from grains and other plant products.
57.8 percent spike in fruit production…

It is projected that the production of fruits, beverages and spice plants, which was 19.6 million tonnes in 2025, will reach approximately 31 million tonnes in 2026. Thus, a 57.8 percent spike is calculated for this group.
The highest spike by product are seen in apricots (292.7 percent), cherries (255.7 percent), pistachios (113.6 percent), nectarines (107.7 percent), walnuts (95.1 percent), apples (93.6 percent) and peaches (88.6 percent).
The significant hike in fruit production is attributed to the recovery following the losses experienced in 2025, driven by recent rainfall.
Grain production to reach 41.6 million tonnes…
Grain production, which was 34.2 million tonnes last year, is expected to rise by 21.7 percent to 41.6 million tonnes this year.
Wheat production is projected to rise from 17.9 million tonnes to approximately 22.8 million tonnes and barley from 6 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes. However, maize production is estimated to decrease from 8.5 million to 8 million tonnes.
For the entire “Grains and other plant products” group, production is calculated to surge from approximately 67.1 million tonnes to 75.4 million tonnes, representing a 12.6 percent increase.
Vegetable production to remain flat…
No significant change is expected in vegetable production in 2026, which was approximately 33.3 million tonnes last year. The Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) estimate remains at approximately 33.3 million tonnes.
Thus, production estimates for 2026 reach approximately 139.7 million tonnes in total across the three main groups. This shows that the record production expectation of 140 million tonnes announced by Minister Yumaklı coincides with the initial estimate of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK)…
