The Turkish food sector, which brings the flavours grown in Anatolia—the world’s breadbasket—to every corner of the globe, once again demonstrated its strength in the international market at FOODEX JAPAN 2026 – the 51st International Food and Beverage Fair, the largest food fair in the Far East.

Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, stated that during the Foodex Fair in Japan, they did not limit themselves to stand activities alone, but also engaged in discussions aimed at developing trade relations between Türkiye and Japan.
Highlighting that, as the Aegean Exporters’ Assocaitions (EIB) delegation, they held meetings with leading Japanese organisations including the Japan National Marine Aquaculture Association, the Japan Nut Association, Otsuma Women’s University, the Japan Vegetable Oil Association and the Japan Management Association, Uygun said, “Japan ranks second among the countries to which Türkiye’s olive oil sector exports, after the US.”
“Japan accounted for 9 percent of Türkiye’s 251 million dollars of olive oil exports in the 2024/25 season. We believe our exports to Japan will reach 100 million dollars in the short term,” he concluded.
The leading products in Türkiye’s exports to Japan are: Fresh or chilled fish, pasta and couscous, olive oil, dried grapes, fruit and vegetable juices, fish fillets and other fish meat, prepared or canned tomatoes, fresh or dried dates, figs and nuts, fresh or dried citrus fruits, and frozen fish…
