Thanks to the support and incentives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the area under silage maize production throughout the province soared by 4,000 decares compared to last year.

This year, silage maize was produced on 30,000 decares in the region and forage production reduces livestock costs.
With approximately 117,000 head of cattle and 650,000 head of sheep, the silage maize produced in the city not only improves the quality of animal production but also provides economic benefits for livestock farmers.
“The availability of feed material at affordable prices is of great importance.”
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Alper Koçaker told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that Erzincan is one of the leading provinces in Eastern Anatolia in terms of animal husbandry.
Koçaker, noting that the province has approximately 117,000 head of cattle and 650,000 head of small cattle, said:

“Forty-five thousand of our cattle are dairy cattle, while the remainder are beef cattle. Animal husbandry is a very strategic sector for our region. Therefore, the availability of feed materials used in animal husbandry at affordable prices is of paramount importance. As the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, we have been working to expand silage maize production, which has played a crucial role in nutrition in our province in recent years. Of course, silage maize is of great importance in animal nutrition. It offers significant benefits both for the meat quality and yield of livestock and for the milk quality and yield of dairy animals. It also significantly reduces costs for our farmers.”
