AKİB BRINGS FOOD EXPORTERS TOGETHER WITH SAUDI ARABIA IMPORTERS…

Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB), which provided a total of 3.79 billion dollars support to Türkiye’s food exports in the 11 months of 2022, brought together important importers of Saudi Arabia with their members at the Food Purchase Committee event organized in Mersin. Representatives of 90 Turkish exporting companies operating in the sectors of fresh fruit and vegetables, aquatic products and animal products, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products, established new trade bridges by making face-to-face meetings with 10 food importers from Saudi Arabia.

On the Turkish side, members of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association affiliated to AKİB, Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ASHİB) and Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB) took place. In the B2B meetings held on 27-28 December, the representatives of AKİB member exporting companies carried out marketing activities to increase their effectiveness in the Saudi Arabian market, which imports approximately 6.5 billion dollars of food annually.

Evaluating the AKİB Saudi Arabian Food Purchase Committee, the Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ASHİB) Vice President Ali Can Yamanyılmaz said that this market was re-opened after the non-tariff barriers they lived in Saudi Arabia, the largest country of the Arabian Peninsula, for nearly two years. stated that it has gained great mobility.

Noting that they are very pleased to host the most important companies of Saudi Arabia operating as chain markets, wholesale and retail in the food sector in Mersin, Yamanyılmaz said, “The companies mainly importing meat products, chilled and frozen beef, lamb and chicken, fresh and frozen fish, shrimp, other seafood, tuna, processed seafood, oil, milk powder, cheese, canned food and fresh fruit and vegetables, joined to the Saudi Arabia’s Food Purchase Committee.”

“With a population of 35 million, Saudi Arabia is among the most important markets of the Middle East for both our country and the food exporters in the AKİB region. In this market, we are increasing our effectiveness thanks to our halal food advantage and high price and quality performance. As ASHİB, we aim to export over 100 million dollars in the Saudi Arabian market in 2023. We plan to grow with 30 percent increases in the following years,” he added…
