“WE HAVE 5.3 BILLION DOLLARS FOREIGN TRADE SURPLUS”

Stating that the agricultural output has increased by 47 percent in the last 2 years and reached 277.5 billion liras, Pakdemirli said, “With the opportunities provided by the Presidential Government System, it has shown a significant growth of 6.2 percent in the third quarter of 2020 and 5.3 percent in the average of the first 3 quarters. The agricultural sector has contributed greatly to our economy. We have ended this year with a significant growth rate.”

Pakdemirli stated that in the last 2 years, plant production reached 124 million tons with an additional increase of 9 million tonnes and said that the record in the history of the Republic was broken in this total production.

Pakdemirli said, “Turkey is a net exporter country in agricultural and food products. Our performance was 18 billion dollars in 2019 agri-food products and we have a 5.3 billion dollars trade surplus.”

Pointing out that exports rose by 5 percent in the 10 months of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, despite the epidemic, Pakdemirli noted, “Behind all these developments in agriculture, the support we give to producers and investors has a great role. In the last 18 years, we have provided agricultural support to our producers in real figures with a total of 311 billion TL. In 2021, we will support our producers with a total of 24 billion liras with an additional 2 billion liras.”

Pakdemirli added that they increased the certified seed production to 1 million 143 thousand tonnes with an 8-fold increase in the last 18 years and drew attention to the fact that 96 percent of the certified seed used locally was domestic.
