Vinegar manufacturers came together and founded SirkeDer.
The vinegar industry turnover reached 263 million TL in 2020 and continued to grow with the impact of the pandemic across Turkey.
The leading brands of the industry, Fersan, Carl Kühne, Ajinomoto, Tariş, Kavaklıdere and Yakamoz were the founding companies of the association.
SirkeDer will contribute to the development of the industry in terms of vinegar used by consumers for both food and cleaning. In addition, it will ensure the flow of information to consumers and the public from accurate and reliable sources and carry out various activities.
Sharing the information about the vinegar consumption and sectoral facts in Turkey, SirkeDer Chairperson Gürhan Güven said, “In our country, nearly 110 companies manufacture vinegar. These companies produce a total of 53 thousand tonnes of vinegar annually. Vinegar consumption per capita in Turkey is around 1.6 kg. This figure is much higher in other countries. Our goal is to work as an association to raise this figure even higher.”
“When we look at the export figures, we have exported 12 million litres to 104 countries. We foresee that the number of countries exported to will increase even more in 2021. Italians are leaders in the vinegar industry in the world. We can achieve this, too,” Gürhan Güven added.
