Veysel Memiş: Our exports exceeded 142 million dollars in May

“WE SAW THE STRONGEST GROWTH IN EXPORT VOLUME IN ALGERIA, BELGIUM AND PALESTINE”

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they achieved exports worth 142.3 million dollars in May. Emphasising that the export performance reflects a fluctuating, transformative yet promising picture, AHBİB Chair Veysel Memiş said that the digitalisation of marketing and logistics infrastructure and restructuring in line with consumer trends are key steps to sustain exports during this turbulent period in global trade.

Stating that it is possible for the sector to make a qualitative leap with strategic planning, innovation-focused production and strong brand positioning in foreign markets, he said, “We believe that the main levers of growth in the Turkish cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector are branding and value-added product development. In addition, we believe that market diversification activities will reduce dependence on fragile markets and strengthen risk management.”

“With the awareness that digital export infrastructure and e-commerce channels are of vital importance in reaching new-generation consumers, especially in niche products such as pastry products, we believe that investments in these areas should be accelerated. We believe that sustainable agriculture and traceable supply chain practices will give us a competitive advantage, especially in accessing European markets, and that it is of great importance for industry stakeholders to work together on these issues,” he added.

“As AHBİB, we are striving to take the necessary steps in these areas together with all our stakeholders, especially the public sector,” he concluded…
