Exports of tobacco, one of the traditional export products of the Aegean Region, soared by 10 percent in the last year, rising from 915 million to 1.004 billion dollars.
The tobacco sector has surpassed the 1 billion dollar mark in exports after 7 years. The tobacco sector last achieved an export performance of 1 billion 11 million dollars in 2018.
The Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association, which brings together tobacco exporters in Türkiye, has made a successful start to 2025. The Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association, which exported 368 million dollars in the January-May period of 2024, increased its exports by 7 percent to 394 million dollars in the first five months of 2025.
In the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association’s 394 million dollar export, cigarette exports ranked first with 206 million dollars, while leaf tobacco exports amounted to 101.3 million dollars. While 47 million dollars worth of cigarette tobacco was exported, hookah tobacco exports increased by 17 percent from 33.6 million dollars to 39.5 million dollars…
