Press release…
Türkiye exported 248 million dollars worth of fresh fruit vegetables and fruit and vegetable products to the UK in 2024. Aiming to get a share of 500 million dollars from the UK’s 17.7 billion dollars imports of fresh fruit vegetables and fruit and vegetable products, Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable and processed fruit and vegetable exporters landed in London with 13 companies.

Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSIB) carried out the first overseas marketing activity of the Turkish Fresh and Processed Fruits and Vegetables Cluster URGE Project, which was implemented in the fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products sectors, to the UK between 27-30 April 2025.
Bilateral business meetings held with 30 importer companies…
While 13 exporter companies from Türkiye travelled to London, they held more than 100 bilateral business meetings with 30 buyer companies from the UK. The Development of International Competitiveness Project Delegation also visited markets and companies in London.
Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that the UK imported 17.7 billion dollars of fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products in 2024, while the country’s exports of fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products to the UK were 248 million dollars.

Underlining that there have been significant changes in trade dynamics following the UK’s departure from the European Union, Uçak said, “The UK has turned towards a more flexible and diversified supply chain structure as a result of this process and that our country stands out as a strong candidate to become a reliable supplier for the UK with its agricultural production power, climate advantage and advanced logistics network.”
Export target to the UK is 500 million dollars…
Underlining that Türkiye’s exports of fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products worth 248 million dollars are insufficient in a market as large as the UK in the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products, Uçak explained, “Our aim with this trade delegation is to make the potential of the UK visible and accessible for our companies, to bring our companies together with direct buyers and to prepare the ground for sustainable business associations. Within the scope of our programme, in addition to market and company visits planned separately for both fresh and processed fruit and vegetable exporters, we held meetings and comprehensive bilateral business meetings with leading chain stores in the sector. In this way, we aim not only to raise the awareness of our products in the UK market, but also to establish permanent commercial connections. We will continue to work with an approach based on quality, sustainability and reliability in every link of this chain from production to export. What we aim is to carry our fresh fruit and vegetable and processed fruit and vegetable exports to 500 million dollars in the UK market.”

Abdurrahman Deniz, Türkiye’s Commercial Counsellor in London, accompanied the EYMSIB delegation during their UK contacts. Cengiz Balık, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, Board Members Tolga Selim Kağan, Sadık Demircan and Kenan Unat also took part in the London delegation…
