Tea exports from Türkiye in the January-July period soared by 30 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 17 million 182 thousand 55 dollars.
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), said that tea was sold to 109 countries, autonomous and free zones in 7 months from the country.
Gürdoğan stated that in the January-July period of this year, 3 thousand 576 tonnes of tea was exported and 17 million 182 thousand 55 dollars of income was provided.
Pointing out that 13 million 170 thousand 966 dollars earned from tea exports in the same period last year, Gürdoğan continued his words as follows:
“Our tea exports increased by 30 percent in value compared to the same period last year. Belgium, the USA and the United Kingdom were the 3 countries with the highest exports. In this period, 6 million 926 thousand 4 dollars of tea was exported to Belgium, 2 million 210 thousand 244 dollars to the USA and 1 million 930 thousand 622 dollars to the United Kingdom.”
Gürdoğan indicated that the diversity of countries surged in parallel with the increase in exports and stated that tea was sold to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Congo, Slovakia, Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Poland, Gabon, New Zealand, Portugal, Angola, Togo and Rwanda.
Noting that the interest in Turkish tea is increasing day by day, Gürdoğan added, “We are hopeful that tea exports will continue to hike until the end of the year.”
