Birol Celep, Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, said that dried figs are subjected to controls for compliance with human health while they enter the countries exported.
Celep stated that dried fig enterprises should export well-dried products that have passed the necessary controls and analyzes in terms of compliance with human health and hygiene conditions and that the image of healthy Turkish figs should be protected in world markets.

Giving information about dried fig export figures, Celep continued his words as follows; “Our dried fig exports reached 66 thousand tons with an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period of the previous season from September 26, which is the beginning of the 2019 season, to August 31, 2020. The value of this product increased by 5 percent to approximately 231 million dollars. The top 5 countries were Germany with 33 million dollars, France with 32 million dollars, the USA with 31 million dollars, Italy with 12.4 million dollars and Switzerland with 9 million dollars. Countries where we have achieved significant export growth are China with an increase of 86 percent and The Russian Federation with 67 percent and Canada with 42 percent.”
