Hazelnut export season started on September 1, 2019 and ended after August 31, 2020.
During the 2019/2020 hazelnut export season, 342 thousand 318 tons of hazelnuts exported from Turkey and 301 billion 2 million 863 thousand 988 US dollars provided in return. It was stated that both the amount and the value of exports exceeded the targeted figures.
Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association, reminded that 126 thousand 344 tons of hazelnuts were exported from the province of Trabzon and 879 million 81 thousand 673 dollars obtained in exchange.
Stating that in the 2019/2020 export season, there was an increase of 13 percent in the amount of hazelnut exports from Trabzon and 29 percent in value, Cirav said that the province with the highest number of hazelnut exports in the export season was Trabzon, as in previous seasons.
Cirav noted, “Trabzon province alone realized 38 percent of our country’s total hazelnut export. Trabzon in the first place was followed by Istanbul in the second place, Giresun in the third place and Ordu in the fourth place. During the export season, hazelnuts were exported from Trabzon to 61 different countries, with the highest exports being Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Poland, respectively.”
