“Tomato and pepper pickles lead exports!”

Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that exports fell by 9 percent to 560 million dollars in the first half of 2025.

Uçak explained that in the first half of 2025, tomato exports surpassed cherry exports with 39 million dollars, rising to the top spot in fresh fruit and vegetable exports. “Our tomato exports soared by 19 percent. Our cherry exports decreased by 57 percent from 37 million dollars to 16 million dollars. These products were followed by dates with 14 million dollars, mandarins with 8.5 million dollars and peaches and nectarines with 7.6 million dollars.”

Uçak informed that pickled peppers ranked first in the export of fruit and vegetable products, in which the Aegean Region is the leader in Türkiye, with 69 million dollars and that the Aegean Region brought 58.5 million dollars to the country from the export of dried tomatoes and 49 million dollars from the export of gherkin pickles.

Russia leads in fresh fruit and vegetables, the US in processed products…

Pointing out that the countries to which they exported the most in the first half of 2025, he added, “The Russian Federation maintained its leadership in fresh fruit and vegetable exports with a demand of 32 million dollars. We exported 13.5 million dollars worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to Germany and 12.5 million dollars worth to Ukraine. In processed fruit and vegetable exports, we exported 81 million dollars worth to the United States, which holds the top position. Germany came in second with 75 million dollars, and the United Kingdom came in third with 42 million dollars.”
