The world’s best quality quince; Yellow Diamond of Sakarya region!

SAKARYA – The harvest of the golden yellow quince of the geographically marked indications, which is exported to the world and grown in Geyve and Pamukova districts of Türkiye’s northwestern province of Sakarya, continues. The golden yellow of the marked indications, which are evaluated from stem to leaf and carefully collected, are exported abroad as well as the Turkish market.

Quince of Sakarya, which is made of molasses, dried, jam, compote, tea and collected only by hand, is exported to many parts of the world as well as meeting a significant part of the domestic market need. The fruit, which is utilised from stem to leaf, is carefully collected from the branches.

‘It also grows in other regions, but it does not replace the one in Sakarya’

Farmer Ufuk Koç, who stated that he was satisfied with the yield, said that this year’s harvest and crop are very good and the prices make the producers and tradesmen smile.

Pointing out that in addition to many provinces of the country, there are also shipments abroad, Ufuk Koç added, “Quince is a geographically marked product and this product is used in many production areas such as Turkish delight and cologne. Quince is also grown in some provinces in Türkiye, but none of them can match the taste of Sakarya. Especially this year, the water rate of quince is very high because the arid climate has increased the possibility of irrigation. In addition to the yield, this year’s taste is also high compared to other years. The product, which comes out of the field for 15-25 liras, is sold between 80 and 90 liras in the markets.”
