The Olive Tree, whose homeland is Anatolia, has been a symbol of history, culture and peace for thousands of years.
Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), which aims to draw attention to the ancient journey of olive and olive oil in Anatolia as well as the symbol of abundance and the meanings it adds to life, is organising a photography competition called “OLIVEtoLIVE” in cooperation with Izmir Photographic Art Association (IFOD) and Turkish Federation of Photographic Art (TFSF).
Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, shared that Türkiye has more than 200 million olive trees and has become the world’s first in table olives and the second in olive oil with the investments made in the olive sector in the last 25 years.
“We aim to reflect the characteristics of the Olive Tree more strongly with the 1st National Photography Competition ‘From the Abundance of Olive to Life’,” Uygun said.
Seda Şengök, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Izmir Photographic Art Association (İFOD), emphasised that olives will turn into a universal story with the fascinating narrative power of photography and stated that the ‘OLIVEtoLIVE’ competition will treat olives not only as a product but also as a bridge that unites people and a philosophy of life extending from nature to the table.
“In this competition, the frames of our photographers will immortalise the meaningful journey and cultural heritage of olives,” she added.
Who is on the jury?
‘OLIVEtoLIVE: Aysun Aras and İsmail Selçuk, members of the Board of Directors of EZZİB representing the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, will take part in the jury that will evaluate the works to be applied for the “From the Abundance of Olive to Life 1st National Photography Competition”. Other names in the jury are; Photography Artist, İFOD Board Member Berna Kızıltan, Photography Artist, Master Architect Liane Bencuya,
Photography Artist, Olive Oil Exporter Nedim Ekmekçiler, Photographer, İFOD Chairman of the Board of Directors, Olive Oil Exporter Seda Şengök and Instructor, Photography Artist, İFOD Board Member Tayfun Kocaman.
A total of 125 thousand TL prize money will be awarded in the competition, which will be organised in two categories: general and aerial photography. Applications can be made until 28 March 2025…
