The Turkish dried fruit sector aims for sustainable growth in the Indian market…

The Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association hosted the “India Sectoral Buying Mission”, which took place between 14 and 19 September 2026 and covered İzmir and Gaziantep provinces, with the aim of raising the profile of the Turkish dried fruit sector in the Indian market and boosting exports.

During the Izmir leg of the mission, which saw seven leading Indian companies operating in the dried and shelled fruit sector visit Türkiye, over 20 Turkish exporters held approximately 150 one-to-one business meetings.

During the meetings, new trade opportunities and long-term collaboration prospects were explored in product groups where the country is a market leader, notably dried apricots, dried figs, seedless dried grapes and Antep pistachios.

Yusuf Gabay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye made an export of 1 billion 241 million dollars to India in 2025; between January and August 2026, exports rose by 6 percent to reach 863 million dollars.

“We export food products worth 133 million dollars annually to India. Turkish dried fruits could capture a larger share of the existing potential. We believe that Turkish dried figs, dried apricots and seedless dried grapes can achieve a much stronger position in the Indian market thanks to their quality and product diversity,” Gabay said.

“The approximately 150 bilateral business meetings we held as part of our sectoral buying mission demonstrated not only our companies’ interest in the Indian market but also the demand from Indian buyers for Turkish products,” he added…
