SİNAN KIZILTAN: EXPORTS OF FISHERY AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS SURPASS 3 BILLION DOLLARS FOR THE FIRST TIME

The Turkish fishery and animal products sector garnish the world’s tables for 3 meals a day, increasing its exports by 28 percent in the last year, climbing from 2 billion 350 million dollars to 3 billion dollars 6 million dollars. For the first time in the history of the industry, it exceeded the 3 billion dollar threshold.

The fishery and animal products sector, which has reached its export target of 2.5 billion dollars for 2023 by the end of 2020 and expanded its 2023 target to 3.5 billion dollars, draws an image that will easily catch its 2023 target, which it has increased.

Eight-month exports exceeded 2 billion dollars…

The exports of the Turkish fishery and animal products sector in the January-August period of 2021 increased by 37 percent from 1 billion 524 million dollars to 2 billion 82 million dollars.

Underlining that the surge in demand for fish, white meat, eggs, dairy products and honey products during the pandemic period brought an export record, Sinan Kızıltan, Chair of the Sector Board of Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, said that thanks to this progress, the fishery and animal products sector surpassed 3 billion dollars in exports for the first time.

Explaining that the fishery sector has the biggest share with 880 million dollars in exports of 2 billion 82 million dollars in the export of 2 billion 82 million dollars in the January-August period of 2021, Kızıltan said, “The poultry industry consists of 499 million dollars from poultry meat and 238 million dollars from egg exports. It reached an export figure of 737 million dollars. The dairy products sector earned 268 million dollars in foreign currency. While our honey export was 17 million dollars, we obtained 180 million dollars of foreign exchange income from other products within the scope of our sector.”
