The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s ‘Communique on Amendments to the Turkish Food Codex Egg Communique’ has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

Accordingly, changes were made to the Regulation in line with amendments to European Union (EU) legislation and the country’s requirements. Significant regulations were made to prevent egg waste. The existing ‘use-by date’ label for table eggs has been changed to ‘recommended consumption date’.
The period for delivering table eggs to consumers from the date of laying has been extended from 21 days to 28 days. Eggs cannot be sold as table eggs after 28 days from the date of laying. It has become mandatory for table eggs sold as extra fresh to be classified, labelled and packaged within 4 days of laying. Table eggs that are not classified, labelled and packaged within 10 days of laying will not be marketed for this purpose but will be used in egg product production…
