“We will pay a total of 24 billion liras for agricultural support in 2021”
Underlining that they will pay 24 billion TL in agricultural support this year, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli said, “Agricultural support has increased by 65 percent in the last 3 years. We will pay a total of 24 billion agricultural support in 2021. In 2021, our Ministry has an investment budget of 17.5 billion liras.”
“While supporting the producer on the one hand, we started to make intervention purchases on the other hand. While making intervention purchases, we made a price policy in a way that would not crush the producer due to the increasing costs, that is, sudden changes in the product. We said we will explain this before the harvest. We have been doing this for the last 3 years,” Pakdemirli noted.
“Everyone from Edirne to Kars province, from Samsun to Adana province, especially in all products purchased by our Turkish Grain Board (TMO), are satisfied. Last year, 22 percent hike for wheat, 15 percent for maize, 18 percent for paddy, 33 percent for hazelnuts, in other words, we tried to do our best in order to satisfy our farmers and producers by always aiming for hikes well above inflation. It already shows this in all numbers. While the input price index has increased by 8-9 percent, it has increased by 15 percent in agricultural products, that is, it is seen that the income of the farmer has increased,” Pakdemirli added…
