Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that 250,000 tonnes of cherries are produced in the Aegean Region.

Wishing cherry growers a bountiful season, Uçak said, “As well as being the world leader in cherry production, we are among the top four countries in terms of exports. In the Aegean Region, we produce 240–250,000 tonnes of cherries annually across the provinces of İzmir, Manisa, Afyon, Denizli and Aydın. The Aegean Region accounts for 30 percent of the country’s cherry production. Whilst İzmir accounts for 40 percent of the Aegean Region’s cherry production, Manisa accounts for 20 percent and Afyon for 18 percent. The districts with the highest production volumes are Kemalpaşa in İzmir, Şehzadeler in Manisa and Sultandağı in Afyonkarahisar. Our members of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association represent 25 percent of Türkiye’s cherry exports.”
“In 2024, we achieved 55 million dollars’ worth of cherry exports from the Aegean Region. Our target for 2026 is to exceed 55 million dollars,” he concluded.
Germany, Russia and Italy lead the way in exports…
In 2023, Türkiye exported 83,000 tonnes of cherries, generating 214 million dollars in foreign exchange from cherry exports. Germany was the country with the highest demand for Turkish cherries, with a value of 95 million dollars. The Russian Federation imported 44 million dollars’ worth of cherries from Türkiye, whilst Austria ranked third with 14.3 million dollars…
