In response to the claims that sunflower oil stocks are depleted due to the Ukraine crisis, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Professor Dr. Vahit Kirişci said, “Our country has sufficient sunflower oil stocks. Do not rely on baseless claims. There is nothing to be worried about.”

“The information shared that there is not enough stock in basic food products such as sunflower oil is not correct. Necessary measures have been taken. Our country has sufficient sunflower oil stocks. Do not rely on baseless claims. There is nothing to worry about,” Dr. Kirişci noted.
Pointing out that significant increases have been experienced in sunflower production in the country in recent years, Dr. Kirişci added, “Our total sunflower production soared by 17 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year. Despite the rise in sunflower production in recent years, some of our needs are met through imports due to the increase in domestic consumption and the growing demand under pandemic conditions.”
