Minister’s reaction to the price game in cotton!
Professor Dr. Vahit Kirişci, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, made harsh criticisms about the latest developments in cotton market and said, “How can the price of a crop with a shortage of supply be lowered, this is a mind-boggling business!”
“It would be a great injustice to attempt to victimize the cotton producer. But we do what it takes. We will follow up in the coming days, if we do not see a change, the actions we will take are clear and they will anticipate it,” Dr. Kirişci reacted.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Vahit Kirişci, who participated in a series of programmes in Türkiye’s east Mediterranean province Hatay, warned those who speculate on cotton prices with a harsh language.
“Attempting to victimize the producer is a great injustice”
Stressing that as the Ministry, they are extremely sensitive about “white gold” cotton, Dr. Kirişci added,
“We never allow the labour of any of our producers, especially the one we harvest here, to remain on the ground. It would be a great injustice to attempt to victimize the producer. We, as a government, have done what is necessary as a state and we will. We showed this in sunflowers recently. We are in a position to take all kinds of action in cotton very easily.”
