While exports in the dried fruit sector, one of Türkiye’s traditional exporter sectors, decreased from 227 thousand tonnes to 200 thousand tonnes on quantity basis in the first half of 2024, foreign exchange earnings soared by 15 percent from 722 million to 829 million dollars.

The average export price per tonne of dried fruit exports, which was 3 thousand 184 dollars in the first half of 2023, rose by 30 percent to 4 thousand 128 dollars in the first half of 2024.

Seedless raisins are the leader with exports of 240 million dollars…

In the first half of 2024, the country managed to export 240 million dollars of seedless raisins with an increase of 18 percent, while seedless raisins received a 29 percent share of the total 829 million dollars of dried fruit exports.

While dried apricot exports decreased by 2 percent, the amount of foreign currency obtained from dried apricots was recorded as 187 million dollars.

Türkiye exported 30 thousand 254 tonnes of dried figs in the first half of 2024, while the amount of foreign currency obtained from dried fig exports surged from 114 million to 140 million dollars with a 23 percent progress.

76 percent hike in pistachio exports…

Pistachio, one of the strong export products of the Southeastern Anatolia Region, posed a successful export graph in the first half of 2024. Leaving behind the January-June period of 2023 with 55 million dollars of pistachio exports, Türkiye dragged its exports to 97 million dollars with a spike of 76 per cent in the same period of 2024.

Türkiye’s almond exports in the dried fruit product group was 27 million 250 thousand dollars, while pine nut exports boosted by 155 percent from 5.7 million dollars to 14.5 million dollars. Türkiye earned 14 million dollars from chickpea exports and 13.3 million dollars from walnut exports. Apricot and turmeric kernel exports were recorded as 5.5 million dollars and dried apple exports as 5.2 million dollars.

Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they have made a successful entry into the second century of the Republic and that they aim to maintain the line of success in the second half of 2024 and reach the export target of 1.8 billion dollars set for the end of the year…
