Another agricultural product group, of which the Aegean Region is the leader in exports, was registered as non-wood forest products within the Aegean Exporters’ Association (EİB).
Cahit Doğan Yağcı, Chair of Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, informed that while Turkey exported 182 million dollars of non-wood forest products in 2021, they realized 112 million dollars of this export and emphasized that oregano, laurel and sage are the top three products in exports.
Explaining that the pandemic has increased the demand for medicinal and aromatic plants, Yağcı said, “While the average export price of non-wood forest products is 1.19 USD/Kg in Turkey, this figure reaches 3.16 USD/Kg in the Aegean Region.”
“In the meantime, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Agriculture Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, which is continuing to be established in Kınık district of İzmir province, will add great strength to the sector. We aim to export 1 billion dollars in the medium term,” Yağcı added…
